November 10 - Reporting Tips to Employers

For those in occupations where tipping is customary, any tips exceeding $20 earned in October 2025 must be reported to your employer using IRS Form 4070 by November 10. Employers will withhold FICA and applicable income taxes from your regular wages based on these tips. In instances where your wages do not sufficiently cover these withholdings, the employer will indicate the uncollected amount in box 8 of your W-2 form, for settlement when you file your annual tax return.
